For years now I have made sure of all shows I get to USC at Pod.. 1st weekend of August.. is a fantastic 3 days..20,000+ camp there for the 3 days.. non stop 1/4 mile action.. RWYB.. Traders Area.. and and and and Is anyone going? My one and only goal at the moment is to have the eagle SS completed bodywise for then... and YES I will be finally racing on the 1/4 mile.. most liking being beaten by the wife in her "Z" ;D

Personally after having a show stand at Donny South a couple of times... I will not ever be wasting my time and effort going to it... Donny North shows up Donny South MASSIVELY.. Donny South is one of the smallest shows I have been to.. I found it poorly run.. poorly laid out.. 0-60 whoopy de do.. oops I blinked and missed it.. not to mention the cost to do it compared to doing 1/4 mile at other venues.. queued for 4 hours just to get in to the show stand area.. not many traders.. only possitive thing I have to say about Donny South was the free Autoglym pack for having a car on show.. not to mention it has a tendancy to rain the day of the show... not their fault granted.. but a car show in the rain is not a lot of fun.. and for track use.. isnt the best for racing.. Trax on the other hand... I have also had a few show stands at... has got a bit worse over the years trader wise.. but is a huge show for Clubs.. Track places run out very quickly as they are booked in advance by clubs.. can not knock the venue.. Silverstone!!! But beware.. they are very strict on the track rules.. but yet again expect a 2hour queue on the motorway to get in 1st thing in the morning... I have been going to USC for a good few years now.. have had my club on the dvd a couple of times.. for me it is the atmosphere and the constant racing.. Jet Car doing 270mph.. the quality of the company show cars is up there with Donny North.. granted traders area it not as good as it used to be..and I dont really rate the dance tent.. the chance to camp with m8's I dont get to see other than at shows.. and make the most of my marquee and have a party each night.. 25,000 camping in one place with every kind of vehicles you can think of.. from turbo go karts to american muscle, hotrods, kitcars, high performance bikes and even ride on lawn movers in the flamer comp at night.. and even bangers folk buy just to destroy in the burnout arena.. last year also saw the introduction of a drift arena being made.. the surface on the 1/4 mile at Santa Pod is the most unique road surface in europe and Santa Pod still hold the record for the fastest ever in the world 1/4 mile from back in the 80's before fuel rules changed.. But hey each to their own.. if we all like the same thing the world would be a dam boring place

Sadly the price is the down side.. yes is about that but less if you book in advance for club camping.. for me the track action is what it is all about.. the sound.. the smells.. and the beer while sat on the hill.. and a chance for my wife to race her Fairlady... I have found USC is really about who you go with.. it what you make of it.. and a chance to live rough for a weekend.. also there are the stunt shows on while they prep the track for the Jet Car.. if you ever get a chance to see it on the 1/4 mile.. get on the hill at the finish line.. that way it passes you at around 260-270mph.. and you can feel the sonic wake.. bloody great fun.. and deafening at the same time.. I havent been to Donny south since they changed venue a year or two back.. so I really cant comment on what it is like now.. just was bitterly dissapointed last time.. after a long drive down and was able to walk around the show in 20 mins... but I am talking about a few years ago now.. so I am proberly very outdated with how it is run now.. 0-60 never has really grabbed me.. in my wifes Fairlady it would all be over with in 4-5 secs (if she was driving.. my fat ass would weigh it down too much ) I have been to some very small poor shows over the past few years but have had weekends to remember due to saying stuff it and making the most of it with the folk I have gone with.. is all about making the most of a weekend away and having no responsibilities For anyone who hasn't been to USC and are interested in seeing a few hundred pics I have taken over the past 3 years ... below are links to my galleries... USC 2004 www.teamdmuk.com/gallery/index.cgi?mode=album&album=./Ultimate%20Street%20Car%2004%20%40%20Santa%20PodUSC 2005 www.teamdmuk.com/gallery/index.cgi?mode=album&album=./Ultimate%20Street%20Car%2005%20%40%20Santa%20PodUSC 2006 www.teamdmuk.com/gallery/index.cgi?mode=album&album=./Ultimate%20Street%20Car%2006%20%40%20Santa%20PodI try to take loads of pics at shows so others can see what it was like and make up their own minds if the show is for them or not... but I only manage to shoot a very small part of the whole USC weekend as it is spread out a bit and loads of stunning cars in all the club camping areas..
