Hi Jason, Simon and everyone. Sorry I’ve not been in touch lately. Too many problems (Dodgy heart) to bore you with, so I wont. Well at long last my brand new Eagle RV was 99% finished and ready for Stoneleigh last weekend, or so I thought until I road tested it for the first time last week. Brakes binding. Now sorted. Exhaust was MUCH MUCH louder on the road test than just ticking over in my garage, but I could have coped with that to get me to Stoneleigh. Worst of all the auto gearbox changes from 1st to 2nd at about 45+ mph. It hasn’t been into 3rd yet and I‘m told that it will probably never go into 3rd or 4th in its present state. The problem, and can anyone advise me more. Fitted is the Granada Scorpio V6 2.9 cologne engine (normal 12 valve) with matching auto gearbox (2WD). The injection system and the ECU have been completely removed. A reconditioned carb fitted and a modified dizzy. Long story but the engine works great. The problem that I’ve only learnt last week is that the gearbox also needs the ECU or EEC to make it work properly, and I’m told that without the electronics, it aint gonna happen. I hoped an auto box from an older V6 Essex would fit my cologne engine, but I’ve googled it this week and it looks doubtful. Or rather, too complicated for me. If no one can tell me how to make the gearbox work, and if the last few lines are correct, then I’m looking for a big’ish petrol and carb engine and auto gearbox WITHOUT ECU etc. It’s got to be auto gearbox. Any suggestions. Thanks very much, Jeff with the red Eagle RV.
