ford v6 as in cortina or capri
i think there were 2 types , cologne and essex that ford used , as for the difference between them i think simon may know as he put one in a ss a while back,

Cologne was german built...thats all i know.

Hi Jeff. As the others have said, The Cologne is a Ford V6 of German origin (hence the name) Available in either 2.3, 2.8 or a few late 2.9. The 2.3 was a carbed version used in Mk4/5 Cortina's and Mk2 Granada's. The 2.8 was either carbed in the Mk2 Grannies or injected in the Grannies, Capri's and Sierra XR4i and 4X4. Both the 2.3 and the 2.8 only had 2 siamesed exhaust ports per side so struggled to breath and make decent power. The later 2.9 as used in the Sierra and Granny had 6 exhaust ports, and more power. This was also the basis for the V6 OHC Cossie

as a ford nut sorr i wasnt hear sooner to help rvjeff69 simon has the right site burton knows all there is to know, there is alot of contrversy weather the ford essex or the cologne is the best motor, but if u speak to burton they can tell u the pros and cons
btw im aplying to work at burton very soon
