I have seen this question loads of times and think its pointless! On my SS I had a new servo and Master Cylinder, new calipers, disks and pads, hoses etc etc and dot 4 fluid. With the sierra drums on the back my SS stopped as well as, if not better than any mass production car. I was going to upgrade to green stuff pads if I needed extra stopping power, but what I had was awesome. Don't forget the Cortina with 5 people in it was so much heavier. I really would try a decent new set up before you go mad! Simon

simon is right the brakes u have on there were very good, if u changed the pads and disks/drums they would be better, if u just stick with them for now it would be 1 less thing to think about and if u still find them crap its an easy fix, burton power can provide brake kits, the only thing mine didnt have is a servo, so if u got room maybe just get one of thos

same for me ,, although i had a 3.5 v8 up front` the car was half the weight of the original cortina ,and less than a pinto powered ss ,as my block was aluminium, and the brakes did me fine
i didnt even have a servo assist,, they are for ladies ;D

if you do deside to change (im guessing you have cortina uprights as you have cortina brakes?) have a look at rally design they have wilwood 4 pots that mount straight onto the cortina uprights.

Or if you can find them, Austin Princess 4 pot calipers go straight on, allthough a bit heavy.
