I'm after some shims for a cortina axle, I knackered a few getting the bearings off the diff. 40mm id 50mm od Any one know where I can get some (obsolete from fords now)

do you know the thickness of the shims ?? and how many you need , i could prob get some punched for you

if your stuck for a micrometer to measure thickness then let me know and i will post you one,
also gavinlaird is breaking a ss , he may even sell you some shims if he wants to break the axle down,

I got some web sites of diff & gearbos builders to try also, would be a shame to break a good axle as you have to pull off the bearings to get at the shims (just how I mangled mine), I got a mike and thanks for the offer

try burton power they seem to do everything ford they got a web site
i do hope that axle isnt similer to the one i thew out over xmas (broke a hlft shaft in it) it was me mk2 escort one

Cheers spikester I'v got a few options now and will give burton a try. I havn't got round to measuring them up yet been busy puttin in a new bathroom , I'l post how I get on. Old rv is looking sad, can't wait for decent weather, garage is stuffed so can't work in there [im g][/img]
